Climate Justice and Human Mobility: Challenges and Solutions

This event will take place during COP29 in the Climate Mobility Pavilion, and aims to highlight the crucial connection between climate change and human displacement. In a world where the effects of climate change are increasingly evident, it is essential to address how these phenomena impact the most vulnerable communities, especially those on the front lines of the climate crisis.

The discussion will focus on communities facing disproportionate challenges from environmental degradation and extreme weather events such as hurricanes, droughts and floods. These events threaten people’s well-being and drive forced displacement, creating a new reality for millions of people around the world.

During the event, the landscape of climate change impacts on vulnerable populations will be explored, with a particular focus on how climate-induced migration is affecting different regions. Case studies from Latin America, Asia and Africa will be presented, illustrating the diverse ways in which communities are responding to these challenges and adapting to new realities.

In addition, we will feature prominent panelists who will share their experiences and knowledge on the intersection between climate justice and human mobility. This event not only seeks to inform, but also to foster constructive dialogue on effective and collaborative solutions that can be implemented locally and globally.

We invite all interested parties to join this important conversation and contribute to the search for solutions that promote climate justice and respect for human rights in the context of forced mobility.
