On 16 November 2026, La Ruta del Clima will join global leaders, practitioners, and community representatives at COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, for the side event Views from the Frontline: Community Approaches to Addressing Loss and Damage, hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The discussion will explore how communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis are responding to loss and damage, highlighting locally led solutions, resilience-building efforts, and the urgent need for inclusive support systems and financing. Participants will also examine gaps in current policies and identify pathways to strengthen community-centered approaches at national and international levels.
Among the speakers will be Adrián Martínez Blanco, Director of La Ruta del Clima, who will contribute perspectives on climate justice, loss and damage, and the importance of ensuring that frontline communities help shape the decisions and investments that affect their futures.
As impacts from climate change continue to escalate, this conversation will provide an important platform for sharing experiences, advancing practical solutions, and promoting policies that place communities at the center of efforts to address loss and damage.
