The new Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, is a 50-year-old politician and evangelical known for defending the coal industry in his country. Following in the footsteps of politicians from other countries, such as the United States, Morrison has broken with the Australian tradition of maintaining secular Australian politics by putting his religious vision at the center. However, this is not the only thing that he has in common with U.S. politicians. He shares a disinterest in addressing climate change and the defense of coal remains at the center of his political vision.
