As climate impacts intensify across the globe, demands for climate reparations are becoming an increasingly important part of international climate discussions. Communities that have contributed the least to greenhouse gas emissions often face the most severe consequences, highlighting the need for solutions grounded in equity and justice.
The session «Reparations: From Historical Debts to Climate Justice» will bring together experts and advocates to explore key questions shaping the climate justice agenda, including:
- What are climate reparations?
- What are historical reparations, and how do they intersect with climate justice?
- What is historical debt?
- How can climate reparations be strengthened through UNFCCC processes?
- What is the current status of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD)?
Through these discussions, participants will examine how historical responsibility, climate impacts, and international cooperation can contribute to a more equitable response to the climate crisis.
